On the threshold of 57 year, the Society began his journey with 50 weavers of the village Basudebpur renowned as the witness of innumerable struggles under Egra Sub-Division of District Purba Medinipur. It is recognized by Govt. authority on 23/09/1961 and Registration No – 10 (Contai) Presently the member of members of this society is 419. It is glad news that almost all the weaving persons of this locality are involved as member of this society.Every member is benefited by any way from the member Welfare Fund of this Society.
62 members of this society are being benefited from the old age pension Scheme of Govt. 241 members have been enlisted under M.G.B.B.Y and 150 sons and daughters of the members have been provided Scholarship. Besides 3 members have obtained the benefit of Date Insurance. Relevantly notable that 373 students belonging to the members of the society have been provided monetary
The development of this society is the result of the sincere effort of the members and the Governing Body of the society and various Planning’s, advices and monetary help of the Govt. authority. It is a surprising fact to all that this society has been successful to produce clothing material from very low rate to the most precious items to be exported only the working weavers friends are be thanked for this. Now a weaver person is able to earn Rs. 10,000/- or more in a month from this work. It is a gleeful information that the society has been enabled to export the clothing material to foreign country of total amount of Rs, 62,15,710/- till date 31.03.2018. Besides, the same prepared by the local weavers has created a relevant demand in the local markets. As a result, there is no difficulty in respect of selling of them.
The society not only has spread hand to help only the member, but has taken an effective role for arrangement of orienting water, improvement in road and paths, making toilets, electric connection, School, Computer Center, Study Centre and other humanitarians work in the interest of common people. The working committee of the society has resolved that this village will be recognized as an ideal village of India with the assistance of this society. Where there will be no workless persons and the workers should not proceed to another state in search of work. All the facilities from state/GOI are brought to eligible weavers members. Moreover, the society arranged for drinking water, common latrines, repairing of common roads to facilitate its members. Future plans of the society is to engage more unemployed youths from members houses to sustains their livelihood by arranging Schools, Computer Education Centre etc.
